For most, the holidays are a time to gather with family and friends and to recognize the good things in life. It can be a difficult time, however, for people just trying to make ends meet or who have fallen on hard times. Toys for Tots

The scoop: Toys for Tots has been providing toys to children across the country for decades. It aims to bring hope and toys to children in need. New, unwrapped toys can be dropped off at Go! Together 4 Colorado Toy Drive
Where: Boys & Girls Club of Metro Denver, 2017 W. Ninth Ave.
When: 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Friday through Dec. 24
The scoop: The Boys & Girls Club accepts toy donations as part of a collaboration with CBS4 Denver, King Soopers, 97.3 KBCO and KOA NewsRadio. The organizations are asking for new, unwrapped toys and items, such as board games, video games, art supplies, clothing and books. Donations can also be dropped off at CBS4 Denver at 1044 Lincoln St. and at participating King Soopers stores..
Holiday Toy Drive for the Mile High United Way
Where: EON Office, 60 Tejon St.
When: 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Friday
The scoop: Each year, Mile High United Way hosts its Children’s Holiday Party, where children can decorate cookies, take photos with Santa and receive donated toys. The party brings hundreds of families together, and you can help brighten a child’s day by donating any type of toy or gift card for children up to 12 years old. Toys and items must be donated by Dec. 4. .
