Dish Network and CBS Corp. worked through Thanksgiving to resolve a fee dispute that returned CBS channels to the air for Dish customers late Thursday.

The channels, which included Channel 4 in Denver and the local CBS station in 27 cities nationwide, went off the air on Tuesday due to the two companies failing to agree on a new contract. The old contract expired at midnight on Nov. 20.

“We are grateful to our customers for their patience this holiday week as months of work has resulted in a deal that delivers CBS for years to come,” DISH executive vice president of marketing programming and media sales Warren Schlichting said in a statement released at 10 p.m. on Thursday.

CBS officials in a statement said the contract was a multi-year agreement.

“We are pleased we have reached a deal with DISH, who recognizes the value that the number one Network brings to viewers in these markets,” said Ray Hopkins, President, Television Networks Distribution, CBS Corporation.  “DISH customers will continue to get CBS’ must-have content, while we are also able to achieve our short and long-term economic and strategic goals.”

Details of the new contract were not shared. But the Douglas County satellite TV service had earlier blamed the dispute on CBS forcing it to carry three less popular channels at higher prices than before. Those channels — CBS Sports Network, Pop and the Smithsonian Channel — had also gone dark and are now back to normal for Dish customers.
