Winter is just beginning in Colorado. Indeed, it’s barely touched the Front Range.

But the Rockies, hard-core baseball fans — and likely more than a few disgruntled Broncos followers — are already thinking spring. As in spring training.

Monday, the Rockies unveiled their 2018 spring training baseball caps. The Colorado state flag logo — the red C filled by a gold disc — is hot right now. So that makes it cool for the Rockies to incorporate the logo into their caps.

The new look got a big thumbs up from star third baseman Nolan Arenado and Charlie Blackmon,  the 2017 National League batting champion.

“I love it,” Arenado said. “It’s something different, we need that. Representing the state of Colorado, not just the Rockies team, is perfect.”

Added Blackmon: “I think it’s great! It has red, white and blue. I’m proud to wear it.”

The Rockies also unveiled their regular-season caps, as well as uniform patches, that celebrate the team’s 25th anniversary. Appropriately enough, the patch utilizes purple and silver.

By the way, pitchers and catchers will report to Salt River Fields in Scottsdale, Ariz. around Feb. 14. The Rockies’ first Cactus League game is scheduled for Feb. 23 vs. the Arizona Diamondbacks.
